Kitchen Knife Making Course 3 Day


This is a three day kitchen knife making course where you will learn to take sheet steel and transform it into a high quality kitchen knife that you can take home with you. Once ourselves and all participants have arrived and got to know one another we’ll talk about kitchen knife designs and what makes a good kitchen knife. On this course you will make one of our Mini Chef designs which is a medium sized utility kitchen knife. We will then guide you through the entire process of cutting out the blade from sheet steel, rough grinding the blank and bevels, Layout/drilling for bolt holes, heat treating the blade which will include a detailed explanation of the science behind heat treating both stainless steels and carbon steels (as well as cryogenic treatment of stainless steels), blade and bevel clean up, We will then look at wood stabilisation and the theory behind it as well as going through the process, handle scale preparation, handle glue up, rough handle shaping, handle finishing and finally sharpening.
