This is a four day knife making course where you will learn to take sheet steel and transform it into a high quality tool that you can take home with you. Once ourselves and all participants have arrived and got to know one another we will then start with choosing the design of knife you’d like to make. You will have the option to choose from pretty much any of our knife designs ranging from utility knives, general outdoor knives, bushcraft knives, hunting knives and carving knives. We will then guide you through the entire process of cutting out the blade from sheet steel, rough grinding the blank and bevels, Layout/drilling for bolt/lanyard holes, heat treating the blade which will include a detailed explanation of the science behind heat treating both stainless steels and carbon steels (as well as cryogenic treatment of stainless steels), blade and bevel clean up, We will then look at wood stabilisation and the theory behind it as well as going through the process, handle scale preparation, handle glue up, rough handle shaping, handle finishing, sharpening and finally sheath making.
